FIRST NATIONS ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP

Working Together to Tackle Climate Change

In 2019, several coastal First Nations in BC met at a climate adaptation workshop in Richmond. During the workshop, these Nations decided to work together on climate-related issues, and the Indigenous Climate Change Coalition was born.

Today, multiple coastal Nations work together on advocacy, strategies, and practical solutions to climate change. This is where ICCC excels—helping various stakeholder groups tackle the issue of climate change together to help communities thrive.

TOGETHER WE'RE STRONGER

Sharing Resources for Climate Adaptation Between Nations

The Indigenous Coastal Climate Coalition (ICCC) is a First Nations-led working group that shares best practices and provides mentorship, support strategies, and resources for overcoming climate challenges.

The coalition of coastal Indigenous Nations will work together to address changing conditions in their territories, both on land and water, resulting from changing climatic conditions.
