WHY WE LISTEN TO COASTAL NATIONS

What is the Strategic Plan?

Our Strategic Plan was shaped by you — coastal First Nations representatives, technical experts, and community members who shared their priorities through surveys, planning sessions, and the Rising Tides Rising Strength conference.

This five-year roadmap (2025-2030) guides our collective action to:

  • Protect coastal ecosystems and the communities that depend on them

  • Share knowledge and build capacity across participating Nations

  • Advocate for Indigenous-led climate solutions

  • Secure sustainable funding for local climate action

  • Honor traditional knowledge and stewardship responsibilities for future generations

Together, we're building climate-resilient communities by amplifying coastal voices and championing solutions rooted in both Indigenous knowledge and contemporary science.

A JOURNEY TOWARDS CLIMATE RESILIENCE

Northern Region Climate Adaptation Planning

Join us for the first meeting of our Northern Region Climate Adaptation Planning process.

Date: March 11, 2026
Location: The Crest Hotel, Prince Rupert
Format: In-person

This collaborative planning process brings together northern coastal First Nations to develop region-specific climate adaptation strategies. Drawing on proven approaches like Old Massett Village Council's Climate Adaptation Plan, we'll work together to:

  • Identify climate risks and vulnerabilities specific to northern communities

  • Share knowledge and traditional expertise

  • Develop adaptation strategies that protect our lands, waters, and future generations

  • Build capacity across participating Nations

Why attend? Climate change impacts each territory differently. By coming together, we amplify our voices, share resources, and strengthen our collective resilience.
